The Ripon Chamber of Commerce announced that tonight’s planned $2 Ride Night at the Almond Blossom Festival carnival has been canceled after heavy rain overnight caused flooding at Mistlin Park.

City and carnival crews are spending all day Thursday working to pump water from the grounds in hopes of reopening the midway in time for the weekend festivities. Officials said the decision was made out of caution and to ensure the carnival area is safe and ready for guests.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the Ripon Chamber of Commerce said in a public notice to the community.

As a silver lining for eager carnivalgoers, the Ripon Chamber of Commerce has extended sales of the $35 Unlimited Carnival Ride Pass through the end of today, giving families extra time to take advantage of the deal before the rides reopen.

According to the Ripon Chamber’s Almond Blossom Festival schedule, the carnival is expected to move forward beginning Friday at Mistlin Park, located at 1201 River Road.

On Friday, vendor booths will open at 2 p.m., followed by the carnival rides opening at 4 p.m.

Chamber staff say they are working diligently to ensure the grounds are ready and safe for the remainder of the weekend’s activities.

The Almond Blossom Festival is one of Ripon’s signature annual events, traditionally bringing together carnival rides, food vendors, entertainment, and family-friendly activities that draw visitors from across the region.

With cleanup efforts underway, organizers say they are optimistic the carnival fun will return in full force Friday through Sunday.

“Thank you, Ripon, for sticking with us,” the chamber’s announcement said. “We can’t wait to see you at the carnival tomorrow.”
