Ripon has entered a five-year agreement with Symbium Corporation to streamline the permitting process for residential solar and energy storage systems. The new cloud-based platform, approved unanimously by the City Council at no direct cost to the city, aims to accelerate approvals and increase transparency for homeowners and contractors.

In response to California’s SB 379 mandate—which requires cities to modernize and simplify solar permitting—Symbium’s software will allow qualifying projects to receive instant permits online. City staff selected Symbium after evaluating several options, citing its user-friendly design, seamless compliance with state regulations, and strong track record in other municipalities.

Integration with Ripon’s permit tracking system is expected to eliminate redundant data entry and make internal workflows more efficient. The platform will also provide real-time code compliance checks and ongoing technical support, with automatic updates to ensure the system remains current as regulations evolve.

By adopting Symbium’s digital solution, Ripon positions itself at the forefront of fast, accessible solar permitting for its residents.
